So Tuesday I took him back to the hospital for his xray and visit. Ryan was out of town all week so I was on my own for the 3 hr visit:) He did pretty good considering he had about a 15 minute nap all day. His weight check was also good he was 20.4lbs-I wasn't sure how since he had been pooping so much the past couple of days but hey we will take it!! Dr. said xray showed he was still very full but everything else in the xray looked normal. I was concerned maybe he had some sort of blockage in his bowel but Dr. said no that wasn't the case. So he said continue the Miralax and increase the dosage for 2 more days and return on Thursday for another xray and visit. HUH? WHY? At this point after being there for 3 hours I just said OK and then called Ryan to give him the update (or lack there of). At this point neither of us are overly thrilled with this Dr (Dr. Yaseen Peds Upper GI at Childrens Hospital) he is always in a hurry, difficult to understand and is terrible about explaining his rational for things. On Wednesday I made sure to have daycare keep notes on all him BM's-I figure if they are watery with not much solid then the xray on Thursday isn't going to be much different than Tuesdays. Thursday things seemed to be loosening up a little:) We headed back over for his xray that afternoon and he was full of energy after his almost 3 hr nap at daycare. We waited 45 minutes for the technician to come out and ask me if I had just been there on Tuesday for an xray and of course I said yes and then she said "do you know WHY he wants to take another xray so soon?" I explained the entire situation and explained that not much had changed since Tuesday and I wasn't thrilled to be putting him back thru another xray. She said she was going to call the Dr. and tell him she didn't think it was necessary for a repeat xray. He agreed and asked that we still come up so he can check him out. OMG! I was about to go crazy-Brody was running everywhere and how was I going to keep him entertained for another hour.
His weight check was 20.1lbs so I guess thats good he lost a little weight but he is still up over a 1lb in less than 2 weeks-remember he had been 19lbs for nearly 4 months. Brody had a BM while we were waiting to see the Dr. so I was sure to keep it so I could show him. Dr. said the miralax was working and to keep him on it twice a day unless his BM's become a clear watery consistency and he would see him back next week. He also put him on a medicine that will help to increase his appetite b/c he has been so full of poop he hasn't been eating much just snacking.
At this point Ryan and I really don't know what to think-is this really the cause of him not putting on any weight for such a long time. I asked the Dr. if he thought he has IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and he said it could be that or I guess sometimes when kids get a virus it causes this to happen so we unsure at this point. WOW!! That was a long post about a lot of poop:)
