We decided around Christmas time to plan a little trip to Gatlinburg for a long weekend. Ryan's sisters family lives in Georgia & couldn't make it back for Christmas so this was a good 1/2 way point for us to meet. We left Thursday early evening and drove about 6 hrs and stayed in Kentucky that way it broke up the drive for the kids & we were at our cabin by noon on Friday. We lived in Morristown in 2005 & 2006 which was pretty close to Gatlinburg so we knew the area pretty well & were really excited to go back for a visit its so BEAUTIFUL!!
Here is where we stayed!! It was AWESOME-kids were ready to move in and for $900,000 we could buy it they said:)
Paw Paw & Emaw Welborn brought Ty & Lainie with them so Ashlyn & Brody could have someone to play with. They were all so well behaved!
Here is one of the amazing views! The night before we got there they got 6 inches of snow which is a lot for Tennessee.
If you asked the kids what was their favorite part on the trip and they said the hot tub! Pretty cool to be outside with this view relaxing with a glass of wine!!!
Another view from our cabin
Of course we had to try out the jacuzzi tub
Aunt Jen making some breakfast
Saturday we went to Ober Gatlinburg which has ski slopes at the top of the mountain. We took the Aerial Tram up-thought the kids might be a little scared, Ashlyn said it tickled her tummy:)
Ryan, Ashlyn, Emaw & Ty thought they would try out skiing. It was quite the ordeal to get them all ready to go & then Ashlyn chickened out once she got out there.
While the rest of them were skiing Me, Ashlyn Jen & Kerry took the Ski lift up the mountain and Paw Paw stayed back with Lainie & Brody they didn't care to go.
We got some pretty great pics:)
Here is the view heading back down the mountain
Saturday night Ty REALLY wanted to go to the Dixie Stampede so Paw Paw, Emaw, Jen, Ty, Ashlyn & Lainie went to that and the rest of us stayed back & played cards.
These 2 were best buds-Brody loves his Bri!!!
Sunday morning it was almost 60 so the kids headed out for a snowball fight
Sunday we went to a Nascar go cart track for a few hours and the girls hit up the outlet mall
Sis was pretty excited that she got to drive all by herself
Ty got lots of loving!
I think we have decided to make this an annual family trip-we had such a GREAT time!!!
